Chapter FFA Activities 2018-2019
COLC - September 22, 2018
The St. Helena FFA Chapter Officer Team attended the Annual North Coast Region Chapter Officer Leadership Conference. They attended workshops hosted by both Region and State FFA Officers. They were super excited to implement everything they have learned to their year of service to the St. Helena FFA Chapter and the members.
Opening & Closing - December 4, 2018
St. Helena FFA Members competed at the Sonoma Section Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest! ALL 4 teams earned GOLD. Half of the officer team received an Outstanding Award! Alexys Bautista received Outstanding Officer President, Liesl Wolf-Heinemann received Outstanding Officer Sentinel and Stefhany Rios received Outstanding Officer Treasurer.
Selma Vine Pruning Contest - Jan 19, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Vine Pruning Team placed 1st High Team at the first Annual Selma Ag Boosters Vine Pruning Contest! Maria Ortega for placed 2nd High Individual and Alexys Bautista for placed 6th High Individual! The rest of the members received various Sub Contest awards!
Reedly Vine Pruning Contest - Jan 26, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Vine Pruning Team placed 1st High Team at the Reedley College Mid-Winter FFA Field Day! Maria Ortega placed 1st High Individual and Alexys Bautista placed 3rd High Individual. This was the very first time in the history of St. Helena Vine Pruning teams to ever place 1st High Team at the Reedly College Mid-Winter FFA Field Day.
Two FFA Chapters - Jan 25, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Vine Pruning team met with members of the Napa FFA Vine Pruning team and practiced for the Selma Ag Boosters Vine Pruning Contest. The Napa FFA Chapter is the neighbor of St. Helena FFA and both chapters enjoyed being able to support and enjoy the quality time together!
State FFA Champions - Feb 2, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Vine Pruning team earned the State FFA Champion title in the Grapevine Pruning CDE team! Maria Ortega placed 2nd High Individual, Liesl Wolf-Heinemann placed 6th High Individual, Alexys Bautista placed 9th High Individual and Stefhany Rios placed 21st out of 81 participants and 22 Teams.
Sectional Speaking - Feb 13, 2019
St. Helena FFA members competed in the Sonoma FFA Section Speaking Contest! Breanna Pauls for placed 1st on the B.I.G test and 2nd on Creed Recitation LDE. Liesl Wolf-Heinemann placed 3rd and Joe Brawdy placed 5th on the Impromptu Public Speaking LDE. Wolf-Heinemann and Brawy also placed 3rd and 1st High Individuals and 1st High Team overall.
Arbuckle FFA Field Day - Feb , 2019
St. Helena FFA Floriculture team competed in their very first contest of the season! They placed 2nd High Team at the Arbuckle FFA Field Day! Andrea Hernandez placed 3rd High Individual, Clitlalli Carcia placed 10th High Individual and Clarissa Hernandez placed 11th High Individual. They also placed 1st in Judging, 2nd in Construction and 3rd in Flower Identification.
Merced College - Feb 11, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Agriculture Welding team competed in their very first contest of the season. They placed 3rd High Team at the Merced College Ag Welding Contest! Jesse Cole was also the 5th High Individual!
UC Davis FFA Field Day - March 2, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Floriculture team competed at the UC Davis FFA Field Day! Andrea Hernandez placed 1st High Individual.
Butte College FFA Field Day - Mar 9, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Agriculture Welding Team placed 4th High Team at the Chico State & Butte College Field Day! Jessie Cole placed 2nd High Individual!
Chico State FFA Field Day - Mar 9, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Floriculture Team received 1st High Team at the Chico State & Butte College FFA Field Day. Andrea Hernandez placed 1st High Individual for the second contest in a row. Citlalli Garcia placed 11th, Clarissa Hernandez placed 17th and Alexys Bautista placed 34th. They also placed 1st in Flower Identification, Reasons and Construction.
Regional Speaking - Mar 22, 2019
St. Helena FFA Members competed at the North Coast Region Speaking Contest! Brenna placed 1st in the Creed Recitation LDE and Liesl Wolf-Heinemann placed 5th in the Impromptu LDE! This marked the first time a St. Helena FFA member had won the Regional Creed Recitation and the first member to compete at the State Level for this particular LDE.
Modesto JC FFA Field Day - Mar 23, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Floriculture Team competed in the Modesto JC FFA Field Day. They placed 3rd High Team, Andrea Hernandez placed 3rd High Individual, Citlalli Garcia placed 5th High Individual and Clarissa Hernandez placed 24th High Individual.
Regional Spring Meeting - Mar 23, 2019
St. Helena FFA members attended the North Coast Region FFA Spring Meeting. 7 members received Regional Proficiency's in various categories including Viticulture Production, Swine Production, Goat Production, Specialty Animal Production, Vegetable Production, and Environmental Science. We also had a total of 11 State FFA Degree Recipients, 1 Retiring Regional Officer
State FFA Champions - April 13, 2019
The St. Helena FFA Vine Judging team earned the State FFA Champion title in the Grapevine Judging CDE team! Liesl Wolf-Heinemann placed 1st High Individual, Maria Ortega placed 2nd High Individual, Alexys Bautista placed 3rd High Individual and Stefhany Rios placed 4th High Individual.
State FFA Proficiency's - April 27, 2019
St. Helena FFA members received multiple awards at the annual State FFA Convention & Expo. Liesl Wolf-Heinemann was named the State Proficiency WInner in the area of Environmental Science & Natural Resources Management, Alexys Bautista was named the State Winner in the area of Vegetable Production. Alexys was also a State Finalist in the area of Viticulture Production and Jake Mendes in the area of Agriscience Research.
State Agriscience Fair - April 27, 2019
20 St. Helena FFA members with 16 projects brought home 8 top awards at the State Agriscience Fair in Anaheim. St. Helena had 4 of the 6 Advanced Individual Division Winners and their projects will be competing at the National Contest!
